Organic music. No element struggles against any other; the styles are blended by such shamanistic hands whose fingers could calmly catch water in a net or weave from barbs a child's cuddle. Cricket drone, minimalist classical structures, laid-back doom metal repetition, underlying noise fields that slowly build and rest, timeless folk entwined with march without duty or haste, a continual build of hum and buzz which blossoms into a full-frequency meeting of doom and rest which decomposes into a fragment of classical industrial finality. Nothing is hurried or feels disquiet; all is impressively tranquil and tranquilizing. Throughout and from within all shimmer subtle layers of strange and natural sounds. The cover portrays a long-haired woman in meditative equipoise with hands resting near the handles of a pair of swords, echoing the title. This is organic, dark music - not dark as perturbed, but dark as serene. Combined with the art and title, it feels like the serenity of resting in detached equanimity before a great act of true violence. An unusually deep piece. Were I to be given a funeral, I would want this LP in the DJ's crate.
